Protect Yourself 1, Inc.’s mission is to increase HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C (HCV) Awareness, Education and Prevention by using music, art, entertainment, and events to foster a sense of individual responsibility that encourages positive behavioral change among at-risk youth ages 8 to 13.

The PY1 Safe2Live© Social Marketing Media Campaign
focuses on the following goals:

encourage discussion about the HIV virus between
children and parents/guardians
educate youth in order to prevent them from
becoming victims of HIV
promote positive health behavioral change among
youth ages 8 to 13
decrease the taboos, myths and stigma associated
with the HIV virus
reduce the number of HIV infections in at-risk areas

The Safe2Live© Social Marketing Media Campaign consists of state-of-the-art, culturally relevant, age-appropriate, and engaging educational productions to increase HIV/AIDS and HCV Awareness, Education and Prevention.

Our targeted productions include:
an informative, engaging, and ethnically-genderbalanced Hip Hop 30-second Public Service Announcement/music video, Safe2Live© PSA, funded by Cable Positive/Tony Cox ommunity Fund the Safe2Live© Mobile Puppet Theater, a lively, dynamic, and informative puppet show, featuring characters from the music video/PSA, as well as live vocalists and performers, and pre- and post surveys to help monitor the effectiveness. It also includes many free educational materials, such as t-shirts, tile puzzles, and posters. The Safe2Live© Mobile Puppet Theater is funded by The Annie E. Casey Foundation, and is approved by the Baltimore City Public School HIV and Human Sexuality Advisory Board/Panel, as well as the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) Infectious Disease and Environmental Health Administration (IDEHA) Community Review Panel (CRP).

The Safe2Live© Social Marketing Media Campaign is available to local, regional, national, and international organizations and government agencies which are aware of the urgent need to educate youth ages 8 to 13 about HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.
The Safe2Live© Social Marketing Media Campaign is approved by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Protect Yourself 1, Inc. realizes that when we educate our youth, we also protect the future of our communities, and the world.

The Safe2Live Campaign encourages positive health behavioral change among youth ages 8 to 13. The campaign educates pre-adolescents to understand and identify risky behaviors, enhances their decision making skills, and alleviates their fears through the acquisition of knowledge.
Through the Safe2Live Campaign’s HIV prevention strategy, PY1 empowers youth with the information they need to take charge of their future, and the knowledge to make healthy lifestyle choices and changes.
