PY1’s Public Service Announcement “Protect Yourself” targets adults and older youth, The PSA was aired in July 2008 on Comcast cable to 500,000 subscriber homes via Comcast Cable Networks.
PY1 would like to thank George Clinton, Belita Woods and Theresa Hamilton The music video “Protect Yourself” received roaring applause when it was projected in July 2008 before the opening of a George Clinton concert of nearly 2000 fans in Washington, DC.
PY1 has also been invited to make presentations including its increasingly popular music video Protect Yourself before the 2005-2006 Maryland State AIDS Administration Health Professional Seminars, Johns Hopkins University and Hospital Medical Staff, and Howard, Morgan State and Coppin State Universities, the United States Centers for Disease Control National 2006 Conference, and the 2006 National Center for Health Behavioral Change Conference in Baltimore.
Jean Albert Renaud (JAR), Monique Egé-Richert, Beverly Jones, Lamont Battle and Ron G with their celebrity partners and friends from the music industry: Gary “Mudbone” Cooper, George Clinton, Belita Woods and JAZZ member of "Dru-Hill"; and from the HBO Series "The Wire": Clarke Peters, Dominic West, Bob Wisdom, and Sonja Sohn came together in the music video Protect Yourself to promote HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention to fight this pandemic.
Protect Yourself, a music video in a 5'04" version, and 30 second PSA have been developed as an entertainment tool to encourage older youth and adults to see the necessity of safely enjoying their sexuality. Protect Yourself encourages individuals to be responsible for their sexuality, promoting the choice between SAFE SEX (condom use) or NO SEX (abstinence), depending on beliefs, sexual preference, and social, political and cultural environments. NO SEX is a viable option which still remains the safest route, but SAFE SEX in conjunction with the NO SEX concept must be promoted.
