Because AIDS has become a humanitarian tragedy, and the Hepatitis C (HCV) infection rate is alarming, Protect Yourself 1, Inc. has developed a programmatic plan to encourage Federal, State and Local governments, as well as businesses and individuals Nation-Wide to take responsibility with regards to HIV/AIDS and HCV Prevention and Awareness. The following program is designed to further Protect Yourself 1, Inc.'s charitable purpose of providing bold leadership and educational solutions which encourage individuals to take responsibility for HIV/AIDS and HCV Awareness and Prevention.  The campaigns are specifically designed to educate and advocate both dialogue and action capable of fighting those epidemics.

PY1 Educational and Entertainment Program
Protect Yourself 1, Inc.'s Educational and Entertainment Program is designed to reach academic, main stream, and underserved audiences, in order to raise HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C (HCV) awareness and prevention. Through Education and Entertainment, PY1 encourages citizens to take responsibility, increase awareness about preventing the spread of HIV and HCV viruses. The objective of this program is to spread the message to, and engage youth, mid-aged adults and seniors.

PY1's Educational and Entertainment Program uses state-of-the-art, culturally relevant, age-appropriate and engaging educational communication delivery techniques. PY1 developed two social marketing campaigns to increase HIV/AIDS and HCV awareness and prevention by using informative outreach methods to engage vulnerable, at-risk populations - especially in African American communities throughout our nation. PY1 also provides capacity-building and training to community organizations.

PY1 Educational and Entertainment Program (Model 2)
Protect Yourself© Campaign

The HIV/AIDS Protect Yourself© Campaign is designed to further Protect Yourself 1, Inc's charitable purpose of providing innovative leadership and strategic educational solutions that encourage individuals to take responsibility for their health behavior.

The Protect Yourself© Campaign, including a 5-minutePROTECT YOURSELF music video, a 30-second Public Service Announcement and the multi-lingualSTOP SIGN CAMPAIGN project, is  designed to impact older youth and adults.

PY1 realizes that when we protect our children, we also protect the future of our communities and our nation.

When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 41,287 AIDS cases among teenagers ages 13-24 through December 2002, the point was made that the actual number of HIV cases may be higher than the number of AIDS cases reported considering most adults with AIDS first developed HIV as teenagers.
Responding to that study, the Protect Yourself 1, Inc. (PY1) team, consisting of a Media Content Producer/Writer, an Award-winning Communications Strategist, promoters, multimedia producers, educators and performance artists, proposes its Safe2Live© Campaign.  Its main objectives are as follows:

  1. To launch a HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C (HCV) prevention campaign in Baltimore City - one of our nation’s cities hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic - followed by Washington DC, an expanded regional and national outreach and training effort.
  2. To increase HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C (HCV) awareness and prevention, among children ages 8 to 13, by using informative outreach methods to vulnerable, at-risk populations, especially in African American communities throughout our nation.
  3. To use state-of-the-art, culturally relevant, age-appropriate and engaging educational communication delivery techniques.
  4. To achieve its initiative by presenting the urgent Safe2Live© message in a 30 second animated public service announcement via broadcast media, an interactive PY1 Safe2Live© website and a “live” PY1 Safe2Live© Mobile Puppet Theater presentation that is transported to schools, after-school programs in targeted at-risk communities.
  5. To provide capacity building and Safe2Live© program training to community organizations.

Safe 2 live
