The Protect Yourself 1, Inc.’s mission is to increase Awareness, Education and Prevention of HIV and related diseases by using art, entertainment, nature, animals and events to foster a sense of individual responsibility that encourages positive behavioral change among the general public.
Protect Yourself 1, Inc.’s Goals: to decrease the taboos, myths and stigma associated with the HIV virus,
to lower the number of new infections and reduce HIV transmission.

Developing Awareness, Education and Prevention concepts and programs specifically for racial/ethnic minorities
Producing creative social marketing media campaigns, services, educational materials, and events
Promoting programs, campaigns, services and educational materials to community and faith based organizations, government agencies, businesses and individuals.
Branding programs, implementing campaigns and providing services locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
Creating partnerships with community and faith based organizations, government agencies and businesses, to build capacity for PY1programs to increase awareness, education and prevention.

Project Yourself1 is headquartered and operates within Second Life. Second Life is the most frequently used virtual world platform and has about 6.9 million registered users all over the world. With a scope of this magnitude, PY1 is ready to establish a working presence within this virtual environment.
While Second Life prohibits access to individuals 12 years and under, it is completely unusable for elementary school populations. The Safe2live campaign and its Mobile Puppet Theater will operate and be managed within jokaydiaGRID due to the campaign’s targeted population of youth 8-13 years.
It is hoped that PY1’s presence in Second Life as well as jokaydiaGRID will enhance our ongoing learning and application of 3-D technology which will enhance Protect Yourself 1’s objectives to provide HIV/AIDS and STD awareness, prevention and education for at risk populations. Creating the Safe2live in Second Life and jokaydiaGRID will allow the campaign to provide information, resources and support for under-served populations nationally and internationally. The creation of virtual-based Safe2live e-learning experience gives educators, non-profits, parents, and community stakeholders another way to educate youth about HIV/AIDS prevention, STDs prevention, HIV/AIDS-associated stigma, and commonly associated challenges related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
